In the final quarter, Hittner made a three-pointer 33 seconds in, but Illinois State fought back with a 7-0 run. After struggling to score a basket for nearly two minutes, Drake scored off a jumper from Hittner. Miller followed up with a three pointer with 4:56 left in the game to widen Drake’s lead 73-57. After a basket from Illinois State, Miller scored again followed by a three-pointer from Dean and a layup by Monahan for a 7-0 scoring run which pushed the advantage back over 20 points. The Redbirds scored the final five points of the game. Drake led 51-27 at the halftime break as the team shot a program-record for one half at 81.5 percent (22-of-27) from the floor. The team recorded 18 assists. Rhine scored a game-high 17 points in the first two quarters behind a 9-of-9 shooting performance. Midway through the second, the Bulldogs ripped off an 11-0 scoring run to lead by as many as 21 points.
